Official Letter of the Department of Climate Change Announces 2024 Grid Emission Factor

On 30 September 2026, the Department of Climate Change, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, issued Official Letter No. 11232/BNNMT-BĐKH announcing the calculated emission factor of Vietnam's power grid for 2024, addressed to agencies, organizations and units involved in greenhouse gas emission reduction programs and projects in Vietnam.

In 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with relevant agencies, led research and development on the emission factor for Vietnam's power grid for 2024. Accordingly, the calculated emission factor of Vietnam's power grid for 2024 is 0.6187 tCO2/MWh.

Pursuant to Article 11 of Decree No. 06/2022/ND-CP, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment announces this result, calculated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to agencies, organizations and units for reference and consistent application in greenhouse gas emission reduction activities; related programs and projects under carbon credit exchange and offset mechanisms; developing business-as-usual emission scenarios to update the Nationally Determined Contribution; and developing greenhouse gas emission reduction plans for relevant sectors and localities.
